What a priviledge to have spent the best part of this year working with the dedicated and uniquely inspiring individuals at Viva! My ethical resolve will forever be stronger for my time there.
The last few have been days for reflection since the latest chapter of my life came to an end, so fresh I can still discern the echo of the closing book. From change and growth, through adaptation, recallibration and the greatest of my unrequited loves so far, I have forged the best version of myself I could muster. Now I stand in the settling dust and detritus of the old, the tired and the things that no longer served me. I've spent most of this year feeling like a sculptor who lacks any knowledge of how to use the materials to hand or even what it is I'm creating; real wing-and-a-prayer-type stuff.
I spied a heron on one of my last Bristol runs and it got me pondering as I panted into the lifting mist: being a familiar and often solitary bird known for its patience seems an inspiringly zen approach to the ever-present pressures of daily existence. I resolved there and then to be more heron.
