'Ey up me ducks, it's been an absolute age full of change but I'm back. The allotment had to go but 2 months ago I escaped Bristol to move back to my '94 Adria (called Ariadne) in the countryside, just in time for the lively heat of summer. My Nanny said it sounded lovely and fancied visiting, it never happened but I cherish knowing she wanted to see the pheasants, nesting robins, butterflies and rabbits with me. Yesterday morning I walked to Repparee Cove in Ilfracombe to have sunrise to myself and I've enjoyed the recent choruses that have heralded new days begun in so many different places; crows, wood pigeons, magpies, cockerels, gulls... Travelling and general immersion in life have come with their own respite but today is inescapably the funeral, so I'm clinging tightly to comforting memories of yesterday morning's peace. I am thankful for having given myself the tools to deal positively with all that's unfolding, helping me to see joy instead of tragedy and feeling the priviledge of loving someone enough to miss them this much. The last thing she said before "I love you too" was "what am I going to do without you", after which I resolved quite happily to delay leaving but nothing ever goes to plan. It's 3 days til my commemorative tattoo - after which she will be right behind me forever - and 78 days to Costa Rica.
